Death or Career Ending Injury Benefit
| Statement
of Intent: It is the intention of the IPLEA board to provide a monetary death benefit to beneficiaries of qualifying members of the association or to members who received career ending injury which is directly attributed to their duties and responsibility's as a law enforcement officer for their agency. |

Procedure: |

| 1) | The president of the association shall call a meeting of the board in January of each year for the purpose of conducting regular business and to: | |
| a) | Determine a sum of money, which shall be known as the association's death and career ending injury benefit. | |
| b) | Review claims from the preceding calendar year. | |
| 2) | The secretary/treasurer of the association shall account for the benefit separately from the other monetary assets of the association. | |
| 3) | The board at its sole discretion shall determine the amount that any individual claimant will be entitled to. | |
| 4) | A qualifying claim shall be: | |
| a) | Made by a member or beneficiary of a member who holds or held an active individual membership in good standing. | |
| b) | Shall be directly related to members duties and responsibilities with its employing agency. | |
| 5) | A claim shall: | |
| a) | Be in writing and on a form supplied by the board. | |
| b) | Include all supporting documents that the board may request. | |
| c) | Be submitted by January 17th of the calendar year following the death or career ending injury. | |
